Kid's School - School of Art Fashion July '12

Spiritual - From the morning watch until night, I have waited trustingly for the Lord.

Sewing -  Audrie, my 10 1/2 old granddaughter attended the School of Art Fashion Kid's School in Huntsville, Alabama for the first time this July.  She was so excited and eager to learn to sew.  She had such a happy, spirit-filled learning experience.  She made wonderful friends and was exposed to so many new people and ideas.  She can't wait till next year.

Audrie, lower left, is modeling her bathing suit cover, water bottle wrap, beach bag, and "wet" swim suit bag.  On the right, she modeling  the eye glass case and a "lagniappe" skirt she got to make after completing her projects!  She takes after her Grannie!

She had a blast!  Going to the SOAF in July will become a new a tradition!  If you sew and want to pass this art on to the next generation and spend really good quality time with your "girls", consider taking this 4 day school.  I can't even begin to tell you how joyful, healing, and rewarding this trip was and can't believe it took me this long to attend one of these events!

Excerpt from 8-4-2012 Martha Pullen Newsletter:  "Our kids love to sew just like our adults, I promise. They made the cutest projects, including screened bathing suit bags, glasses cases, a swim suit wrap and lots of other things. Baby Lock underwrites this kid's school and sent in a brand new Sophia embroidery machine for each kid to use the whole time they were here. You would not believe how much they loved to do machine embroidery! All of them mastered the embroidery skill. I can assure you that many of these Sophia's went home with these kids! Thank you BABY LOCK for sending educators, planning the curriculum and for being our kid's school ANGELS! We had lots of assistants in each kid's school who were fabulous and Hilda Wright was once again the principal of the school. Miss Hilda, a retired home economics teacher, taught the kids how to place a knife, fork and spoon properly at the lunch table and insisted on their using good manners while they ate. The kids got a manners lesson in addition to the sewing lessons. Sunday afternoon, as always, I swam with the kids."
